The Force Is Strong
One day Christina was a working mom, wife, and the hub of a big, involved family. The next, life flipped with a by a rare triple-negative diagnosis. Like a spinning dime, Christina watched her life change, unsure how it would finally land.
When Christina first reached out, she admitted that being in front of a camera scared her. But her desire for other women to feel seen in their own fight was even stronger.
We built her session around her anchors, the things that gave her peace and strength. We went to the water, because days at the lake house brought her joy. Her daughter, Lulu, hand-lettered Christina’s mantra, “The Force is Strong,” across her back. Her own mother stood by her side, representing the incredible support system that walked with her every week. Christina arrived with a courage you could feel; quiet, steady, real, and her mother watched with a kind of glowing admiration that filled the space. As a working mother juggling appointments, homework, meals, and scans in the same hands, Christina learned to let her circle carry what she needed to set down so she could focus on the fight of her life.
Through my lens, I witnessed what cancer could never touch: her grit, her generosity, and her unshakable center. She learned to let her circle carry what she couldn’t, allowing her to focus on the fight. In her photos, you can see it all—the water, the ink, her mother. The Force was, and is, undeniably strong with her.
